Summer is just around the corner and children are highly anticipating this season because they can have longer time to play, watch their favorite show or movie, or to simply just have fun. How U.S and Asia Differ in Dyslexia Approach
Dyslexia, a common neurodevelopmental condition that interferes with a person’s ability to read, is said to be present in at least 20% of people regardless of their nationality. A person with dyslexia experiences difficulties involving reading and spelling but is not diagnosed with sensory impairment, brain damage, or environmental deprivation. In fact, dyslexics have normal intelligence level (Catts & Kamhi, 2005; McBride-Chang, 1995, as cited in Chung et al., 2010). What is Dyscalculia?
Dyscalculia is not as widely researched as it's cousins Dyslexia and Dysgraphia. Dyscalculia is the result of a neurological difference that results in difficulty in understanding sequencing, mathematical concepts and memorization of multiplication facts. Dyscalculia was originally defined by the Czechoslovakia researcher Kosc, as a difficulty in mathematics as a result of impairment to particular parts of the brain involved in mathematical cognition, but without a general difficulty in cognitive function. |
